Sara Leigh's Background
I've been an artist my whole life. Always fascinated by the natural world and the ways that species move through spaces. Stitch of Whimsy was created in 2010 after a successful run with Sara Leigh's Handbags, I decided to move into the Whimsical world of plush taxidermy and all things delightful and magical. Every day is a new one to create and fill the world with all of the things that glitter and move people's hearts and imaginations.
My Medium
I use many different mediums such as clay, acrylic & watercolor paints and fleece and felt fabrics amongst many other. I believe that working in a single medium is restrictive to my artistic process, so I will often integrate multiple. Trying new things is the spice of life and each idea manifests in its own individual style.
My Inspiration
The sounds of rain splashing on grass, mushrooms growing in time-lapse, butterflies floating through time and space, shooting stars. Deer, bunnies, forest dwelling creatures, unicorns, jackalopes and other mythological beings, Halloween, all things witchy and magical.
